Four Top Family Trips Yorkshire
Being a children's bedroom and furniture specialist, we're extremely proud of our Yorkshire roots, but if you’re visiting the wonderful county of Yorkshire this year, then you’re sure to be blown away by the beautiful scenery, whatever the weather. Yorkshire is the largest county in England and boasts some great walks, including crags to scale, caves to explore and some of the finest views in the land. If you’re taking the kids, then you’re sure to want to visit some of Yorkshire’s tourist attractions that cater to the whole family and we’re taking a look today at four of the best family days out in Yorkshire.
York’s Chocolate Story
This Chocolate Experience is divided into three zones and caters to chocoholics of all ages. The Story Zone tells the history of chocolate from its origins thousands of years ago in the rainforests of Central America where the ancient tribes first discovered the beautiful cocoa bean. Chocolate was eventually brought to England by the Quaker families of York who established cocoa houses and chocolate shops that made Yorkshire the Chocolate Capital of the UK.
The Factory Zone takes the visitor on a journey of discovery on how the humble cocoa bean is transformed into the finest chocolate. You’ll be reunited with some of your favourite chocolate brands and bars with retro favourites galore.
Moving on to the Indulgence Zone, you can sample a selection of chocolate drinks and delicious concoctions, including Chocolate Fondue. Revel in the luxury chocolate selections in the souvenir and gift shop and choose a little luxury item to take home with you to remind you of the day.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Set in 500 acres of 18th Century parkland, the park boasts five indoor galleries and a fine collection of outdoor sculptures to boot. This is an international centre for modern and contemporary art that attracts visitors from all over the world. There are plenty of events here all year round and the sculpture park offers workshops designed to entertain the whole family as each member of your tribe lets loose the artist within.

The Web Adventure Park
The Web sports a variety of attractions and activities all on one site that will wow the kids from start to finish. Creepy Crawlies is an awesome play park suitable for babies and older kids alike. There’s a four lane Astra slide, soft play, sand pit, forest climbing areas and role play zones. The Animal Zone is a petting zoo par excellence with goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ponies, chipmunks and alpacas. Wired High Ropes Challenge is a continuous rope course with elements of varying difficulty. It’s all totally safe with experienced staff to help with harnessing and belaying for the thrill of a lifetime for kids (and adults) over the age of seven.
Magna Science Adventure Centre
This is science with a difference – set in a former steelworks where the whole family will marvel at the interactive pavilions of Fire, Water, Air and Earth. Plenty of hands on activities will keep the kids busy all day and they’ll be learning as they laugh. Two multimedia shows provide stunning displays of the building’s rich history and there is a programme of curriculum linked workshops to make this one of the best fun educational experiences in Europe.
