How to Bring the Outdoors Indoors this Summer

The British weather is never something we can rely on so we’ve put together a few ideas for those miserable rainy days to bring the fun of the outdoors in this Summer holidays.

Child Climbing a climbing frame on a wall

If venturing outside isn’t an option, turn your child’s frown upside down and swop climbing trees to a super cool climbing frame in the comfort of your own home. For adventure-loving children this idea will go down a treat. Simple choose a blank wall in your home and attach various blocks of wood in a random arrangement to whip up a climbing adventure. After being put together in just a few hours endless hours of fun is sure to follow. Who said climbing was banned indoors?

Top tip: Be sure to line cushions on the floor beneath to ensure a soft landing if needed.

Forget the tree house and instead give your little explorer a new place to play with their friends. A tepee acts as a great alternative to an outside den and will keep them occupied for hours on end. With a wide variety of uses and fast assembly you will wonder how you ever lived without one! When not been used for energetic games or storing teddies, you could even set up with cushions and throws to make it extra cosy for quiet reading time too. Anything is possible in a tepee, they’ll be sure to forget all about not being out in the garden!

When the children have let off steam why not get creative and stuck into some gardening indoors? This is a great activity for all the family to get involved in, not just for the budding Alan Titchmarsh amongst us! Sunflower seeds are a good choice for the Summer months and can be planted in tiny child sized pots. These are suitable to be lined up on the window ledge rather than outside too. Then all you need to do is remember to water your masterpiece and watch them grow into beautiful flowers! What better way to keep the little ones entertained while learning at the same time?
